Green Roofs

Green Roof installed in 2012 at the Hardesty Arts Center in Tulsa, OK. It was installed to promote sustainable, environmentally-friendly and ecologically responsible construction practices.

Green roofs are designed to reduce stormwater runoff by using the rainwater to irrigate the plants on the roof and reduce runoff. They also increase the insulation of the building and therefore assist to extend the life of the heating and air conditioning system. The plants on the green roof can capture some of the pollutants in the air to promote a healthier atmosphere. There are many functions for green roofs, such as a community garden or park. These workshops will focus on how to install a green roof, along with the many benefits of green roofs.
